Another day in the life…

August 17, 2009

We’ve started week 2 of our homeschool jouney with Will and Christian.  Today Andrew even joined in for some math.  That’s my boy. 😉

As promised, here’s some pics of the schoolroom.  We converted our house’s formal dining room into the homeschool room.  Here’s a view from the living room:

And here’s Will hard at work on his handwriting exercise (yes, he’s a leftie):

And, finally, here’s Christian at his desk:

Christian was actually done for the day, but he posed for me.  With his balloon.

Speaking of Christian, here’s a cute story that involves him.  A few days ago he got cold while watching tv and I told him he could grab a blanket from the dryer as I’d just washed them.  Fast forward a couple hours.  As we’re putting the boys to bed I realize that Christian probably didn’t close the dryer door when he grabbed the blanket.  So I go to the laundry room to check.  And find this:

Cupcake the little sneak.  :)  But we love her.

Hope your week is wonderful!  God bless,

Dawn

Day 2 begins…

August 11, 2009

Day 2 of our homeschool year that is.  Yesterday went really well.  We started off slow – just to get Christian into the routine.  He got a little antsy at the end, but I was really proud of him.  Will got upset that we didn’t do math in the workbooks yesterday – a boy after my own heart! 😉

I need to pull my memory card out of the computer, but then I’ll take a couple pics of our classroom.  It really is a cute little area with lots of sunlight.

Rejoice in the Lord, for He is good!  Have a blessed day!

School starts Monday…

August 8, 2009

Our homeschool, that is.  The local public schools started last week, but I just couldn’t start school in the single digit days of August!

Today I’m putting the finishing touches on the homeschool room, getting the boys’ desk ready.  I’m so excited to have two of them in school this year!  :)  I’ll try to get a couple pics of the finished product!

We are so blessed that I am able to be home to teach the boys.  I read something a while back from a homeschool mom that said she wanted to keep her children sheltered.  It’s become somewhat of a bad word in today’s society, but  that’s what I want for my children – to keep them sheltered.  I love their innocence and don’t want them to grow up before it’s time.  They don’t need to be exposed to the ugliness of the world just yet, and Max and I are doing our best to keep them safe.

What I’ve been up to…

August 6, 2009

Or at least sneak peeks of what I’ve been up to.  ;)  I have so much to do around the house today that I don’t have time for an in-depth post, but here’s some close-ups of projects that have kept me busy this summer!

Oh, happy day…

August 2, 2009

I love getting things on my to-do list accomplished.  This week will be busy will all the last-minute preparations for the boys’ school year.  I can’t believe I’ll be homeschooling two boys this year!!  Christian is still unsure of how he feels about the whole school thing, but Will is excited.  I think part (okay, most) of Will’s excitement stems from the fact that he’ll be getting a Nintendo ds once he learns how to read.  Is that bribery or positive reinforcement? 😉

July was so crazy, and I’ve been looking forward to August to refresh and start over.  I’ve got the house picked up (except for my scrap room, but that’s a different story) and I’m actually on top of my chores.  Wow – what a feeling!  I’m really trying to better manager of my time.  I have so much I want to get accomplished and I know there’s time to do it if I don’t waste it.  Know what I mean?

I’m also really excited about my Stampin’ Up! Open House I’ll be holding later this month.  I just ordered some samples from the Holiday mini catalog and I’ll be showing those off.  :)  I’ll update once we have things finalized.

Have a great Sunday!  I’m off to tackle that pesky scrap room!

Happy August…

August 1, 2009

You may be wondering why I’ve updated to a Christmas background…well, when it comes to making gifts for the holiday, we’re in production-mode.  I just bought a few items to decorate and I’ll be making Christmas Stampin’ Up! samples in another week or so (as soon as my order arrives!).  So, I thought it would be appropriate to update the blog a bit.  I’ve been wanting to do another 28 Days of Creativity and I think I’m going to reserve the month of September for that one.  I’ve committed to myself to update this blog more regularly – especially with my crafty projects.  So here’s to a new month!

Merry Christmas! 😉

I had a dream…

July 21, 2009

No, I’m not quoting Martin Luther King Jr.  Last week I was up at Mom and Dad’s and it was a crazy week.  In the middle of it all, I had a dream.  In the dream, I knew when Jesus was returning.  In fact, there was a group of us who knew.  Don’t ask me who was in the group, but there were several of us.  And we were so upset.  Not that Jesus was returning, but that we didn’t have enough time left to finish telling people about Him.  And it stuck with me when I woke up.  And it’s still with me.  Because Jesus really is returning soon, and there are so many in this world that don’t have a relationship with Him.  He may or may not return in my lifetime, but I need to live like it’s happening soon – very soon.  I need to share Jesus…share the peace….share the love…share the joy.  If you’re reading this, I’m praying for you.  Because no matter which side of the battlelines you’re on, this is relevant.

Just something to think about.

Happy Independence Day…

July 4, 2009

We’re spending the day with Mom and Dad…it’s so wonderful to have them down for a visit.  This evening we’re going to a church picnic and we’ll top the night off with fireworks.  A pretty perfect day, if you ask me. 🙂

I feel like such a bad blogger…it’s been a while since I’ve posted.  I need to get rid of the guilt…after all, it’s my blog and there’s no law telling me how often to post.  BUT, I really want to keep it up on a more regular basis.  I have so many scrappy projects to share and I want to start another round of 28 Days of Creativity.  Maybe later this month…(sigh)

God is good.  We are blessed to live in America (no matter what some might say).  And I’m so thankful for our freedoms and liberties in this great nation.

Bye for now.  And Cupcake says hi. 😉

Happy Father’s Day…

June 21, 2009

I hope today was a good one for Max. Unfortunately, he had to work. Afterwards, though, we went with some friends to the amusement park and then out for pizza. Yummy pizza. 🙂

We already gave him his presents…the original Transformers on dvd plus the entire Serenity series on dvd.

He’ll have lots to watch once the satellite dish is gone. I’m calling tomorrow to cancel our service. In an effort to save money (and our brains) we’re going tv-free. It feels really liberating…makes Momma happy.

That’s about all. I need to upload some new pics of the boys and the cats. I’m so behind on my pics it’s not even funny. I’ve been spending too much time reading (is there such a thing?)…I’ve got a big pile of books (like 30+) next to my bed and I’m going to get through them all this year – hopefully this summer!
It’s good for the soul.
